Sunday, 08 June 2008 20:09

A football coach and teacher with Kerrville Independent School District died Saturday evening after he crashing his motorcycle on Texas 39, officials said.

Derek Kent McKiddie was pronounced dead at a Kerrville hospital a few hours after the 6:15 p.m. crash, said Frank Galvan with the Department of Public Safety.

Galvan said McKiddie, who was wearing a helmet, was riding east at an unsafe speed when he lost control of his Yamaha at a curve in the road and struck an embankment.

McKiddie, 42, was a teacher and assistant football coach at Tivy High School, according to DPS and the Kerrville ISD Web site.
